Oil is a medium that I've always loved, but does not love me... The teachers always say that oil is more forgiving then watercolor in the effect that if you make a mistake, you cover it up with more paint and can work it longer because it takes longer to dry, but that's also a draw back. With watercolor I find it easier to layer and get a particular effect or texture because it does dry quickly and lets me paint over it. in essence, I've never really perfected a technique in oils or took the time to learn the finer points, but bellow are some of my attempts.
This was one of my first attempts in oil. Where in watercolors, I used the medium to heavy, in Oil I used them to lightly. I also made the mistake of drawing the design out in pencil first which did not mix well with the turpentine or oil.
